Welcome to Summer Reading 2021
Summer reading is an extended learning opportunity (ELO) for students.
You are asked to read the community read book, Where You’ll Find Me: Risk, Decisions and the Last Climb of Kate Matrosova by Ty Gagne, and one choice book off of your grade-level list.
If you read both of these texts and demonstrate your knowledge you will receive 1.25 credits for doing so.
"That's the thing about books. They let you travel without moving your feet." -Jhumpa Lahiri
Where You’ll Find Me: Risk, Decisions and the Last Climb of Kate Matrosova by Ty Gagne
On Feb. 15, 2015, Kate Matrosova, an avid mountaineer, set off before sunrise for a traverse of the Northern Presidential Range in New Hampshire’s White Mountains. Late the following day, rescuers carried her frozen body out of the mountains amid some of the worst weather ever recorded on these deceptively rugged slopes. What went wrong?
Students, you have book titles to choose from in a variety of Lexile levels and genres at each grade level. Click on your graduation year for your book titles.
You will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge of the texts through annotating the book, creating a dialectical journal, creating an original project or taking a multiple-choice exam during the first 2 weeks of school. This will occur during Academic Labs, Literacy Labs, or in the Library after school supervised.
